Help with Supported Lodgings

Could you make a difference to a young person's life? Could you provide young people in Powys a stepping-stone to independence?

Supported Lodgings hosts provide a room in their home to a young person and give them support, encouragement and guidance to develop the practical skills and confidence they need to live independently.

As part of Supported Lodgings, you would offer a young person temporary accommodation within your home. You will help them to develop independent living skills to enable them to live independently in the future.

As a Supported Lodgings Host you will be making a real difference to a young person's life. In return, you will receive ongoing support from out Supported Lodgings Coordinators, access to a wide range of training, plus a weekly allowance.

Could I be a Host?

Yes, if you:

  • Have a spare room,
  • Enjoy the company of young people,
  • Have the time, energy and commitment to work with a young person.

Supported Lodgings can be with a family, a couple or a single person. You wouldn't have parental responsibility for the young person, but you would give them guidance and practical help to prepare them to live on their own.

What type of support will I be required to provide for the young person?

  • Budgeting
  • Cooking on a low budget
  • Cleaning
  • Laundry
  • Providing advice
  • Listening when needed
