Seek help about homelessness
If you have an emergency such as repairs or homelessness and need to contact us when our offices are closed after 5pm or on weekends or bank holidays, please call 01597 827464. Any calls which are not classified as a priority will be dealt with on the first morning the offices reopen after the weekend or Bank Holidays.
If you are homeless or threatened with homelessness within 56 days, we are required by law to find out more about your situation and work with you to prevent or relieve your homelessness. This process is started when you ask us for assistance with your housing situation. Each case is different, and the enquiries and assistance we provide will depend on your circumstances.
If you are homeless, eligible, in priority need and have nowhere to live temporarily, we will make sure that you are offered somewhere to live in the short-term while we find out more about your situation and work with you to secure a suitable housing option.
Members of the public are asked to report any incidences of rough sleeping they see in their communities, so that the Council's Housing Team can look to intervene and assist. Whilst especially important during cold spells of weather, we ask that members of the public contact Housing Services on 01597 827464 if they are at all concerned about a rough sleeper.
