Do you have problems with daily tasks like dressing or bathing?

'Daily tasks' (also known as 'Activities of Daily Living') include:

  • Self-care, for example, washing, toileting, dressing, eating, and drinking.
  • 'Transfers' such as getting in and out of bed, on and off a chair or the toilet, or in and out of a bath or shower.
  • Mobility activities such as managing stairs and accessing your home and garden'.
  • Domestic activities, like cooking, housework, or shopping.

Stay safe and independent in your own home with services and equipment to make life easier.

If your needs are with regards to your mobility here are some suggestions of support available to you.

Wheelchairs

Wheelchairs for long-term loan are supplied by the NHS through an Artificial Limb and Appliance Centre (ALAC). Your GP or any registered health and social care professional can refer you. Social Services do not accept referrals only for wheelchairs.

Attendant-pushed wheelchairs and commodes are available for short term loan, (for example, for going on holiday), through the British Red Cross.

Mobility scooters

Please note that if you are considering the purchase of a mobility scooter, you will also need to consider how you will store and charge it before you make a purchase. We only provide ramps for wheelchairs that have been prescribed by health professionals and we don't provide storage and charging facilities for scooters.
