How do I know if you have received my application?
If you have applied for a position online, you will receive an acknowledgement email thanking you for your application. If you do not receive this email, please check your junk mail, then contact the Recruitment Team.
I am unable to locate some of my qualification certificates etc; will this matter?
Yes. If you are shortlisted, we will ask you to bring confirmation of your qualifications to the interview. Please contact the awarding body of the qualification and request new certificates (copies are not acceptable).
What if I am unable to make the date / time of the interview?
Please contact the recruitment team. They will contact the manager to see if an alternative date can be arranged.
The decision to rearrange an interview will be made by the Chair of the interview panel and is no means guaranteed.
Can I submit a CV in place of an application form?
No, to give all the candidates the same opportunity to apply and submit the information required to shortlist, we require all applicants to complete an application form online.
Am I able to obtain feedback from my interview?
For feedback about your interview, please contact the Recruitment Team. They will give you the contact details of the Chair of the interview panel who will be able to assist you.
Where can I find out more information about Powys County Council and the Service Area that I am having an interview for?
The Council's website has information about all the Service Areas; please refer to the website.
When will I hear the outcome of my interview?
In most cases, Service Areas try to inform candidates on the day of the interview, but this is not always possible. If you have not heard within 5 working days of you interview, please contact the Recruiting manager.
What time do the jobs close on the closing date?
All job vacancies close at 9pm on the closing date unless it states otherwise on the advert.

Can I work for Powys County Council if I don't speak Welsh?
The ability to speak Welsh is essential for some positions but may only be desirable for others. The Welsh Competency Level will be stated in the job description.

What if I decide to withdraw my application.
Please contact the Recruitment Team giving your name, the position title and the reference number of the job that you wish to withdraw form.
Can I apply for jobs and work for Powys if I have convictions?
Having past cautions or convictions does not automatically bar you from employment. Applicants should always disclose any past cautions or convictions on their application form. If the role is subject to a DBS Check, following receipt of the DBS Certificate an interview will be undertaken to discuss the disclosed cautions and convictions.
