Shared Lives

shared lives

Shared Lives is a service where people who need some support, live with or visit people who have decided to share their homes, community and family life.  These are called Shared Lives Carers.

Shared Lives Carers are recruited, assessed, and trained by Shared Lives Powys. People stay with Shared Lives Carers for a long time, short stays or visit for sessional support. People using the service choose what they do, where they live and how much time they spend with the Shared Lives Carer.

We want people to be as independent as possible.  People using the service decide what outcomes they want in life.   If someone finds something difficult, Shared Lives Carers can work with them until they feel happy to do it on their own. Shared Lives Carers are self-employed and are paid when the person stays with them.
