What is the financial framework?
The 'financial framework' is the term for the policies, procedures, regulations and standing orders we use to make sure we're taking proper care of public money.
This framework contains the rules that officers and councillors must follow to make sure that public money is spent wisely, efficiently and effectively and that the people who spend public money can be held accountable.
The Finance Section makes sure that the Council's overall budget balances and that individual directorates and services keep to their budgets and spend money appropriately.
The Chief Finance Officer is responsible for making sure that financial decisions are sensible and follow the law.
