Arrange a Renewal of Vows ceremony

Renewal of Vows or Commitment Ceremonies can be held for married couples or civil partners. They are a popular way of marking significant anniversaries such as Silver anniversaries, but they can be held to at any time in a marriage or partnership.

Renewal of vows or committment ceremonies may also be helpful to couples who have come through a particularly difficult time together and wish to re-affirm their commitment.

If you were married or formed your civil partnership abroad, you may want to have a ceremony for family or friends who were unable to be with you for the original ceremony.

The ceremony can be personalised to suit your particular wishes and can include contributions from family and friends, music, readings and poetry.  You may also wish to re-dedicate your rings or exchange special gifts.   A souvenir certificate will be signed during the ceremony by the couple involved and two witnesses.

Usually a ceremony will take about 20 minutes, depending upon the number of readings etc included.

Ceremonies can be held at the registry office or at one of the venues approved by Powys County Council.  If you choose to hold the ceremony at one of these venues you will need to contact them first to check their charges and availability.

Legal status

The Renewal of Vows or Commitment Ceremony has no legal status and we must see your marriage or partnership certificate when you make the initial arrangements.
