Powys County Council Priorities - Stronger, Fairer, Greener

The Powys County Council Cabinet has introduced their vision to build a stronger, fairer, greener Powys. The work to develop the visitor economy in Powys contributes to the Council's vision to build and stronger, more resilient rural economy in Powys.

Stronger, Fairer, Greener - Our Corporate Plan

Powys County Council's tourism activity sits within the Economic Development and Regeneration service of the Council and has a dual role in delivering the visitor marketing priorities of the council, alongside supporting the ongoing development of the tourism sector in Powys, in particular working to support businesses, destinations and communities which provide services to visitors.

Powys County Council is committed to supporting a destination management approach, and works in partnership with Visit Wales, partner organisations, tourism businesses, clusters and community groups in the following 4 destinations that make up Powys.

  • Brecon Beacons
  • Cambrian Mountains
  • Dyfi Biosphere
  • Mid and North Powys Destination Network

Powys County Council undertakes a variety of research into tourism trends, visitor satisfaction, bedstock and the impact of tourism on the economy of Powys (STEAM).  Sitting on the Visit Wales research partnership, we gather data in conjunction with other organisations and local authorities in Wales.

Tourism Associations

We all benefit from greater connection and can learn so much from those around us.

Overarching communication networks:

  • Mid and North Powys Destination Network (MNPDN) - A network made up from representation from the 29 tourism groups operating across Radnorshire and Montgomeryshire. Operating as the 'back office' of tourism, its aims are to strengthen the tourism sectors communication and knowledge within the area in an effort to encourage collaborative working and enhance the regions identity.
