Council housing tenants in Powys have given housing services a thumbs up as the latest satisfaction survey data is revealed.

Powys County Council's Housing Service commissioned an independent tenants satisfaction survey in autumn 2023 to see how satisfied they were with the services they receive. The survey was conducted by ARP Research.

The independent survey shows satisfaction levels among tenants increasing in all areas since the previous survey was conducted - with overall satisfaction level in the service rising from 71% in 2021 to 75%.

It also found that among tenants:

  • 89% are satisfied with the safety and security of their home
  • 84% believe their rent is value for money
  • 80% are satisfied with their last repair carried out
  • 82% believe our staff are friendly and approachable
  • 86% are satisfied with their neighbourhood as a place to live

Compared to the 2021 results, the council has seen increase in tenant satisfaction in the following areas:

  • 73% to 77% with the quality of their home
  • 63% to 66% with repairs and maintenance overall
  • 55% to 62% that we listen to their views and acting upon them.
  • 44% to 55% taking part in the decision making.
  • 43% to 56% having a say in management service.
  • 73% to 74% trust in the housing service
  • 51% to 67% dealing with Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB).

However, the survey revealed a decrease of satisfaction by tenants in value for money of service charges, down to 76% from 78%.

Cllr Matthew Dorrance, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for a Fairer Powys, said: "We are working hard to improve our housing service.

"While the overall satisfaction in the service is good, we know that we can do better. The survey results show what areas we need to improve upon.

"I would like to thank our tenants for getting involved in this survey. It is only by listening to their views and working together that we can improve our services."
