The 2024 garden waste recycling collections have begun.

If you haven't got round to renewing your subscription, or signing up for the first time, you can still do so anytime by visiting Garden Waste Collections or calling 01597 827465.

The garden waste recycling collection service provides an easy, clean and simple way of getting rid of your garden waste, with the knowledge that it will all be collected, recycled and turned into compost.

The subscription of £50, includes the hire of a 240-litre wheeled bin and fortnightly collections of your garden waste between 27 February and 1 December. A smaller bin is available at a reduced rate for households with small gardens, or compostable garden waste sacks for those who have their residual rubbish collected in purple bags.

If you are re-subscribing for another year, you will receive a sticker to place on your green wheeled bin to help indicate to the crew that you have signed up for the 2024 collections. New subscribers to the service will have their green wheeled bin delivered within 10 working days, so make sure you sign up early to benefit from as many of the scheduled collections as possible.

Cllr Jackie Charlton, Cabinet Member for a Greener Powys said: "We are all very much looking forward to the arrival of spring and once the days start to lengthen and the weather turns finer, many of us will be keen to get out into the garden once more.

"The easy, clean and simple collection service is a great way to conveniently get rid of all your garden waste in the knowledge that it is being recycled into compost."

You can subscribe now by visiting Garden Waste Collections or by calling 01597 827465.

After subscribing for the 2024 season, please remember to check your collection day - it may have changed from last year: Bin collection day

Residents not subscribing to the service will still be able to compost their garden waste at home or take it to one of the five household waste recycling centres in Powys.
