A Powys County Council employee has been named Apprentice of the Year by Swansea Gower College.

Sarah Price was presented with the accolade during an awards ceremony on Monday (5 February) during National Apprenticeship Week 2024.

Sarah is studying at the college for a Level 3 NVQ alongside her role as a Project Support Officer for Powys County Council's Catering and Cleaning Service.

She said: "It was a real shock to receive the award. I started the course in November 2022 to further my marketing and digital skills to support the work of the service.

"I've really enjoyed it and would recommend work-based learning to all."

Sarah was put forward for the award by her tutor and was chosen due to her 'dedication' and 'application of learning'.

Presenting the award at the ceremony, BBC sports presenter Ross Harris said: "Sarah embodies the spirit of relentless learning and innovation, setting a remarkable example for aspiring apprentices."
