A document which sets out key issues and drivers for change has been prepared as part of work on a replacement plan which will guide the scale and location of future new development in the county.

Powys County Council is currently in the initial stages of preparing its new Replacement Local Development Plan, which will cover all of Powys excluding the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park.

The Replacement Local Development Plan will set out the council's proposals and land-use policies for the future development of land in its area. It will cover the 15-year period up to 2037 and will be used to guide decisions on planning applications once adopted.

To inform the preparation of the Replacement Local Development Plan, the council has prepared a document which identifies the key issues and drivers for change, a proposed draft vision and objectives for the Plan.

The council would welcome feedback from residents, landowners, developers, employers, businesses and organisations, local groups, and community councils on whether it has captured all relevant key issues to development planning in Powys and whether the vision and objectives are suitable.

Cllr Jake Berriman, Cabinet Member for a Connected Powys, said: "This document, which sets out the key issues, the proposed vision and objectives for the future development plan for Powys, provides all interested parties a timely opportunity to have their say and influence sound planning outcomes at an early stage."
