Would you like a rewarding job that helps support your local community? If so, come along to a drop-in event next month to find out more about working in health and social care.

Powys County Council and Powys Teaching Health Board are holding a joint recruitment drop-in event at Welshpool Town Hall on Monday 11 September between 10am-5pm to promote current opportunities.

On the day, you can find out more about roles available across north Powys and have an informal chat with staff. If you like what you hear, you can also apply and be interviewed on the day, you could even walk away with a conditional job offer!

Powys County Council will be recruiting for care and support workers. Sian Cox, the Council's Cabinet Member for a Caring Powys said: "Our carers support people with their daily needs to live independently in their own home. We currently have vacancies in the Newtown and Welshpool areas so do come along to the event to find out more.

"You may think social care isn't for you, but if you enjoy connecting with people and want to support people to leave hospital as soon as they're well to a place of their choice - it might be!  I was a support worker for 30 years, it's often challenging; but it's also rewarding. You will make a real difference to people's quality of life and play a real role in reducing the extraordinary pressures on social care in our county."

Powys Teaching Health Board have a wide range of opportunities available; from health care support workers to qualified nurses and therapists. The health board can even support you to train to become a fully qualified nurse without having the leave Powys and get paid while you train. The health board also employs a wide range of other roles, so come along and find out more.
