Mount Street Infant School's Little Troopers met with Cllr Matthew Dorrance, the council's Deputy Leader and Armed Forces Champion on Thursday, April 27.
As part of his visit, Cllr Dorrance addressed pupils during their assembly about what it means to be the council's Armed Forces Champion and what the role involves.
Cllr Dorrance then heard from the school's Little Troopers, who spoke about what it means to be a Military Child and their experiences.
The event took place during the Month of the Military Child, an awareness month that highlights the important role service children play in the Armed Forces community.
"It was an honour to meet the Little Troopers at Mount Streets Infants School and talk about the role of Armed Forces Champion," said Cllr Dorrance.
"Service children have an important role in the Armed Forces community and it was important to hear from the Little Troopers about their experiences and what it means to be Military Children.
"I'm delighted that my visit to Mount Street Infants School have taken place during the Month of the Military Child, which is a time to applaud Armed Forces families and their children for the daily sacrifices they make and the challenges they overcome."
Shan Kenchington, Headteacher of Mount Street Infant School, said: "We were so pleased to welcome Cllr Dorrance to our school as part of our celebrations during the Month of the Military Child. It means so much to the school community to know that we have a designated member in the Cabinet representing our military families."
